Healthy Breakfast Recipes for Kids

Fruits and Whole Wheat Pancakes

Fruits are great for the body; and to eat one for breakfast is indeed favorable. Experts suggest that to pair fruits with whole wheat pancakes would be excellent for your kids. For your pancakes, you will basically need a banana, one cup of soy milk, a tablespoon of maple syrup, a cup of whole wheat flour, and two teaspoons of baking powder.

You can start by pureeing the banana and mixing in the milk and syrup. After this, mix all the remaining dry ingredients on a separate bowl: the flour, baking powder and salt. You can then add the banana mixture to the dry ingredients and stir them all together until you come up with a smooth batter. Once the batter is ready, you need to heat up a griddle on your stove. Pour a small ladle’s worth of batter onto the griddle. When the pancake forms bubbles on the surface, flip it over and cook through.

You can then serve the pancakes with fresh fruits agreeable to your kid’s taste. You can have apples, strawberries, banana or blueberries. On top of these all, you can complement the recipe with a glass of milk or orange juice.

Baked Oatmeal

A perfect breakfast recipe suggested by is the smiling baked oatmeal. You can easily make this recipe which is good for four servings if you have the following: one cup of quick-cooking rolled oats, half of a cup of dried mixed fruit, two cups of milk, one egg, a quarter cup of sugar, half a teaspoon of vanilla, a pinch of salt, and two tablespoons of syrup.

Since the ingredients will make four servings, you need to have four custard (baking) cups as well. You can start by combining all the dry ingredients in a bowl. You also need to do the same with all the wet ingredients. Once the individual mixtures are already mixed properly, you need to combine them. Stir them all together until they are all mixed evenly.

Add the mixture to the custard cups and bake them in a 350 degree oven for half an hour. When you serve it, form extra pieces of dried fruit into a smiley face. With that, you serve a healthy breakfast with a smile!
